Dead-Link Bookmark Add-on

Wish there was a handy little app that could check through all your IE/FF bookmarks and tell you which are dead links. Is there such a thing?

Given the huge number of bookmarks I’ve got, something to weed out the dead ones would be pretty handy. (…and if it could incorporate something that gets rid of the ones I don’t need anymore, that’d be great too!).

Nice Traffic Update App (& a bonus)

Is there a service that looks at your calendar and sends you mobile traffic alerts depending on your meeting location?

This is the second transport related app in a couple of days (the first was to do with Flight Status). I really like this one – it’s moving towards an Ambient Intelligence type of application which is really cool. One of the big challenges to overcome with this type of application is accessing and integrating information that’s time-sensitive, and doing it in a way that’s reliable….but then, if it was easy, it would have been done already :)

For the strange bonus idea:

Is there an iPhone app that lets me periodically take a picture of my scalp and evaluates my rate of hair loss?

I’m sure there’s a market there if you can get it working….although you’re more likely to just end up with a lot of photos of the top of your head on your phone! Let me know if you put it together…I know some people that might be potential customers for you!

Restaurant waiting time app

Is there an app that tells you average waiting time at local restaurants? Now *that* would be super useful right now.

There are a few restaurant (and general) review sites (like grabmytable.com which launched recently in Ireland) that could capture and publish this information. It could be an useful additional way of helping people decide on where to go for a bite to eat once they’ve checked out the reviews on the quality of the restaurant…

Real-time flight status app

Is there a twitter app or iPhone app that helps you track flight status in realtime?

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something like this somewhere (I have a feeling it was web-based and only for a particular airline though). There are certainly status tracking web-apps for public transport in some places (e.g. I’ve seen one for the London underground). I was looking into the situation in Ireland recently, and there is no way that I could find to get access to this information (if you know of any, I’d love to hear it!). I’d be curious to see how available it is for airlines….

Firefox plugin for limiting visiting time

Is there a firefox plug-in that gives the option to limit time on certain sites or pops up to tell me times passing instead of all block?

This would probably be useful for helping people manage their productivity – something that will give you a little nudge to get off a social networking site & get back to work. There’s nothing like a ticking clock to guilt you into getting away from Twitter or Facebook and back into whatever work you’ve been avoiding!

Spotify Lyrics App

Is there an app that can put lyrics on Spotify?

Spotify is an on-demand music service (currently only available in the UK). Adding the option of viewing lyrics is a good idea, although I’m not sure how easy it would be to extend the app to include lyrics (I don’t know if there’s an API available for it). Having said that, it might be a nice add-on for the Spotify service to include in their app…

iPhone Geo-Tagging Privacy App

Is there an iPhone app that blocks geo-tagging near specified locations? i.e. so phone-cam shots don’t reveal the exact location of my home.

With lots more services & mobile devices offering location-based services, there’s a need for including a way to protect user’s privacy….as this request illustrates.

Some Friendly Twitter Apps

A couple of friend related Twitter app ideas:

Is there an app that shows all the Twitpics my friends posted?

…and…

Is there a way to see the trends ONLY from people I am following?

I quite like the Trends idea – it would be a good way to get an overview of what’s big discussions that have been happening with people in your Twitter stream while you’ve been away from it.

The Twitpics one is also a nice idea – again, giving you a way to quickly dip into see what’s been happening with your friends while you’ve been away.

iPhone Mecca App

Is there an app for the 3GS that points to Mecca?

I thought there was a compass on the iPhone 3Gs. But even if there is, and app that integrates the compass and was pre-programmed with alarms for prayer times could be useful to some…no?
